Experience:
In this experience, you can enjoy mud dyeing by soaking fabric in a dye made from boiling Japanese lacquer trees that grow naturally in a traditional village on the outskirts of Kanazawa, creating a gentle and beautiful gray color. For lunch, you will also enjoy rice grown in this area, served as rice balls and miso soup. Relax and enjoy dyeing in a nature-rich rural setting.

April to November; Duration: 3.5 hours
Costs: 15,000 Yen per person (incl. tax) 7,500 yen for ages 4 to 10
Details of the tour
There are two types of plant dyeing experiences available: indigo dyeing and Japanese lacquer sumac dyeing. You can choose either one. Items to dye include Japanese hand towels or T-shirts, among others. Please consult us according to your preference. We will take a walk around the village, observe nature, and make rice balls for lunch.
- Start and end: from 09:00~12:30 or 10:00~13:30 (starting time upon customer’s request)
- Requirements: shoes and clothes for walking, rain jacket or umbrella (if necessary; if you have suitcases or other hand luggages, please let us know in advance as you cannot take them with you).
- Qualifying age: +4 years
- Walking distance: about 0.5~1.0 km We will accommodate your request
- Maximum number of participants: Maximum 6 persons (minimum 2 persons)
